Cooking with Mary Bartlett (in your very own kitchen)

Portland, Oregon and Paris France

Mary Bartlett fully intended to be a French teacher but her love of cooking and entertaining kept getting in the way. Granddaughter of a diplomat, Ms. Bartlett’s culinary career was inspired as a child by her grandmother who taught her the intricacies of etiquette and entertaining from events for the Swedish Embassy. Since then, Mary had a successful catering company in Washington, D.C. and cooked professionally at the highly-praised Morrison Clark Inn for close to nine years. Ms. Bartlett received a BA in French from Boston University, which included a year at the Institut d’Art et d’Archeologie, University of Paris in France, and a MA in French from Teachers college, Columbia University. She studied chemistry at Delaware State College. Dividing her time between two culinary hot spots, Paris, France and Portland, Oregon, Ms. Bartlett currently devotes herself to writing about food and entertaining. In Paris, Ms. Bartlett cooked regularly for Jim Haynes' famous Sunday night dinners for up to 100 people, which was the inspiration for her book, Throw a Great Party, published in 2007.
