Peter Gruetter

Peter Grütter Chairman at Swiss Telecommunications Association (asut). As a lawyer and advisor to government agencies, organizations and companies, he focuses on Digital Transformation. From 2007-2013, as a Distinguished Fellow of Cisco Systems, he led the “Partnership for Lebanon” program, a joint initiative of Cisco, Ghafari Associates, Intel, Microsoft, and Occidental Petroleum to modernise Lebanon and help the country recover from the 2006 war with Israel. From 2010 on he also led the engagement of the private sector in the UN Making Cities Resilient Campaign, where 2’000 cities worldwide coordinated their efforts for effective disaster risk reduction and for building resilient structures relying on intelligent networks. From 1996-2007 Gruetter was the Secretary General of Swiss Federal Department of Finance FDF, and a key responsible for the reduction of redundancies and the reallocation of tasks between the Federal Departments, including the bundling of all resources under the responsibility of the FDF. He chaired the IT Council of the Swiss Confederation and had the line responsibility for the the Federal IT Steering Unit, for the Federal Office of Information Technology, for the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics, and for the Federal Office of Personnel. Earlier he served as Chief of Staff of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence. Peter Gruetter is Vice-Chairman of the Swiss Association for Standardisation (SNV) and serves as ICT-representative in the Organisation for National Economic Supply. He is Member of the Executive Committee of digitalswitzerland, of the Board of the Swiss Society of Administrative Sciences (SGVW), of the Board of the Swiss Data Alliance (sda), of the International Advisory Board of the ICT4Peace Foundation, and of the Advisory Board of digiVolution.
